Born in 1964 in the Augsburg district. At the age of 12 he started playing the horn and at the same time writing his own compositions. He completed his studies as a horn player at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg and joined the orchestra of the present Nuremberg State Opera in 1986. In 1991 he joined the Munich Radio Orchestra. Kanefzky's compositions are at home in many genres: chamber music works, choral pieces and instrumental concerts are as much a part of his oeuvre as incidental music or brass symphonies. The composer wrote commissioned works for the Bavarian Radio, the Bavarian State Orchestra and "Die Bühne" Nuremberg, among others. Franz Kanefzky and Konstantin Wecker have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration in the fields of musicals and film music.
